Kayla Thomas-Haire Chris Gallagher
Born and raised in Nebraska, Kayla Thomas-Haire is excited to bring a little fun to mornings in Omaha. As the Executive Producer of The Morning Blend, it’s her job to manage the scheduling of guests and working with those guests to make their segments on the show as fun and as memorable as possible. She also spends time working on the Blend website, coordinating contests, and of course managing the daily chaos behind the scenes.
Kayla has a long history working in broadcasting, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Her career has taken her to Rockford, Illinois; Baton Rouge, LA; and Jackson, Mississippi, before she happily returned to her hometown of Omaha in 2002. She came back home to work as a producer and reporter for KMTV. She’s won awards for her coverage of feature, sports and even agriculture stories. Her producing resume includes Action 3 News Live at 5:00, weekends, weather specials, and the annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day telethon. From catching alligators in Mississippi, to tossing beads in Louisiana parades, to shagging foul balls off the net at Rosenblatt with the College World Series ball girls, and even engaging in water fights with the kids at MDA camp in Cozad, Kayla loves to immerse herself in her work (sometimes literally!), especially when it’s fun!
You will see Kayla in front of the camera on occasion, filling in for Mike or Mary, offering her opinions and perspective as a busy working mom, or taking part in demonstrations. But most of the time, you’ll find her busy on her phone or computer, dreaming up some new form of entertainment for The Morning Blend.
Kayla is a graduate of Omaha’s Mercy High School and a magna cum laude graduate of Loyola University Chicago (home of her beloved Chicago Cubs). When she’s not at work, Kayla is likely chasing after her two little boys, her two big dogs, or her husband. She enjoys reality TV, shooting darts, singing karaoke and heading to Jazzercise class. She's been known to run a 5k and completed her first half marathon in May of 2013! That’s to make up for her other love: food! Especially restaurants unique to Omaha.
She loves hearing from Blend viewers. E-mail her your ideas at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Chris Gallagher is excited about being the producer of The Morning Blend. Chris has spent his entire life surrounded by influential women; including his wife, four daughters, his mother, mother-in-law, sister, and three sister-in-laws. So if you’re counting, that’s potentially 11 ladies talking girl talk, asking for shoe opinions, and needing jars opened. So he is right at home surrounded by all the women of The Morning Blend team. Chris is used to being the “token guy” and because of that he brings a unique perspective to the Blend viewers. As the Producer of The Morning Blend, Chris will use this “experience” to run the day-to-day operations of the show. Chris will work directly with Executive Producer (a.k.a. Princess), Kayla Thomas-Haire, and the production crew, to make sure our guests needs are met. Basically while there is chaos behind the scenes, Chris keeps things looking smooth on the air! He will also spend time working on the Blend website, directing the interns to get coffee, performing any and all manual labor (like opening jars), documenting the action behind the scenes, and being grateful to have Mike around.
Chris brings over fifteen years of broadcast production experience to the Blend. Chris was one of the primary newscast directors for KMTV for nearly ten years. As a newscast director, Chris’ responsibilities included coordination and management of production crews during live newscasts, telethons, breaking news, and weather coverage. Along with his work as a director, Chris also produced and organized all aspects of KMTV’s Creighton basketball coverage. Although he will miss road trips to the depths of Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois, Chris is excited to once again become a Bluejay fan and enjoy the games courtside.
Born in San Francisco, California, Chris moved to Nebraska with his family while in grade school to experience “The Good Life”. Chris is a graduate of Millard South High School (Go Indians!!) and a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Chris has been married to his wife, Angie, for more than 11 years. They have four beautiful daughters: Meghan, Emma, Olivia, and Norah! Chris enjoys all sports, especially San Francisco Giants baseball, San Francisco 49ers Football, Husker Football, Bluejay Basketball, MMA events, and getting in a round of golf when he can. When he is not checking the latest scores, Chris is catching up on new episodes of Burn Notice, NCIS, and Revolution.
